Weekly Update March 21 - 25

St. Patrick's Day ~

Well that Leprechaun sure did some shenanigans around the school.  All the students came to school to find their classrooms in shambles.























Many of the students got into the St. Patrick's Day spirit and wore green to school.

Report Cards ~

Report Cards were sent home on Friday.  Congratulations to all the students for their hard work this past term.  I enjoy reading all of the report cards and seeing the progress that the students have made.  A special congratulations goes out to the following Gr. 4 - 6 students for receiving honours this term.  To receive honours a student must have over 80% in all four core subjects - Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.

Student Led Conferences ~

Student Led Conferences will be held on Tuesday, March 22 from 4:30 - 7:00.  This is an opportunity for your child(ren) to celebrate their learning with you and for you to experience some of the hands on activities the students do in class.  Plan to spend about an half hour in your child's room.  If you would still like to meet with your child's teacher, please either call the teacher at school or send them an email.  



Teacher Planning and Development Day ~

Thursday, April 24th there is No School for students.  That day is a Staff Planning and Development Day.  Teachers will be using that time to carry out professional development activities based on their professional growth plan.  



Good Friday ~

Friday, March 25 there is No School for students as it is Good Friday.  I wish everyone a very Happy Easter.


Spring Break ~

Spring Break is from March 28th to April 1st.  I hope everyone has an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful spring weather that we have been having as well as some quality family time.  Safe travels to anyone that is going on a holiday at this time. See everyone back at school on Monday, April 4th.

Weekly Update March 14th - 18th


  

WOW!  What a busy week we had at the school.  Classes were swimming, Teacher's Pet was in doing activities with two of the classes, the Puppet Lady, and the whole school movie award for Student of the Month.  I have only attached a few pictures because I was having some computer issues.  Hopefully things will be working better this week and I will be able to add more pictures.  You can always check on the teachers' blogs to see more pictures.

Here are the highlights of the week's upcoming activities:



Bowling & Swimming ~

All classes will be having their final swimming class this week.  All classes will be going bowling in the morning of their final swimming.  


Dental Hygienists ~

On Tuesday, March 15th and Wednesday, March 16th the Dental Hygienists will be out to see some of the kindergarten to Gr. 2 students.

In the spirit of St. Patrick's Day everyone is encouraged to wear green.  I hope you are all safe from the tricks of the leprechauns.

Weekly Update March 7th - 10th

Since March came in like a lamb will it go out like a lion?  I hope not!  March appears to be a very busy month at New Humble; class presentations, report cards, and student lead conferences.  Please check out the calendar to see the exact dates for everything that will be coming up.  


New School Logo ~


New Humble Centre will be having a new brand.  The logo still incorporates the Panther but we decide to add a bit of colour to the look of the logo.  All new documents and school wear will have the new logo on it. 






Celebrating Seuss ~

Many of the students and staff came to school dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss character.  Here are pictures of the Gr. 1/2 and 3/4 classes.  



Student of the Month ~


Congratulations to the following students for doing such a great job of always demonstrating persistence:

The students won a movie for the whole school!  This received lots of cheering from all of the students.  The movie will be shown on Tuesday, March 8th.

Mini-Stick Tournament ~

Mr. Porter has been running a mini-stick intramural tournament at recesses and lunch.  The students have been very excited about the tournament.  There were some creative names for the teams.  

  

Classroom Presentations ~

Thursday will be a busy day in our school with a variety of classroom presentations.  The kindergarten class will having a presentation by the Puppet Lady.  The puppet lady always does an amazing job and keeps the students engaged and entertained the entire time.

Teacher's Pet will being doing presentations to the Gr. 3/4 and Gr. 5/6 classes.  In the morning the Gr. 5/6 class will be learning about Soap Stone Carving which ties into their social studies curriculum.  In the afternoon the Gr. 3/4 class will be learning about Lights and Shadows which is part of their science curriculum.
