Weekly Update June 20 - 24

I know that it is cliche, but I really can not believe how fast this year has gone and that we are starting our last full week of the school year. There is still so much to be done. I know that to parents it often seems that not much is happening towards the end of the year but for the teachers there is still so much to do - units to finish up, marking to be completed, report cards to be written, and all those fun activities to be planned.  In the office we are trying to tie up the loose ends of this year and prepare for the start of next year.  There is never a dull moment.

As for the students, they are all anticipating a much needed break.  I have enjoyed hearing about all of the exciting adventures that will be happening this summer - trips to Mount Rushmore, surfing on Vancouver Island, camping with friends and family, taking in some of the FCSS camps and many more.  I always look forwarding to hearing the exciting details of these trips when we return in the fall.

The staff would like to wish everyone a very safe summer filled with tons of fun and lots of time to recharge the batteries.  Enjoy!!!

Here are a few pictures of some of the activities that took place the last few weeks.

Once again, thank you to everyone that attended our School Track Meet Day.  It was wonderful to see so many Grandparents!

Also, thanks again to the PTA for BBQing and serving the lunch for us.

The District Track Meet ~

Our school had 44 students qualify to compete in the District Track Meet.  The unofficial results are that are teams did very well.  The official results should be in by next week.  We are hoping to recognize any teams that placed at the Celebration For Learning Award Ceremony later this month.

Hot Lunches ~

Hot lunches are wrapping up for the year.  A great big thank you goes out to all of the parents that volunteered their time this year to help out with hot lunches.  This is a very big commitment.  The students and staff really appreciate your efforts.  I know many of the parents also look forward to hot lunch Fridays.

Also, thanks so much to our dedicated Popcorn and Nacho moms.  This is another big commitment and we do appreciate the time and effort you gave to this.  I know for sure that the students look forward to Popcorn and Nacho Thursdays.

Thursday, June 9th:

Jersey Day ~

Don't forget that Jersey Day is coming up on Thursday, June 9th.  Wear your favorite team jersey.

Friday , June 10th:

Track Meet Day ~

Our students are gearing up for the yearly track meet.  Lunch orders are due by Tuesday, June 7th.

There is a slight change to the track meet this year.  In the morning the students will be divided into age groups where they will compete against other students of the same gender and age.  In the afternoon students will be divided into family groups to compete in a variety of activities with their family.

Parking is always an issue at the school as space is limited.  This year we are asking that everyone park on the south side of the school.  We will only have one event happening on the south side of the school this year.  When parking, please be careful of the students that are moving to and from that event.  Thank you.

We have selected Tuesday, June 14th as the rain out date.  The hamburger/hot dog lunch will be served on Friday, June 10th regardless.  If we do need to reschedule the track meet to the Tuesday, please send a lunch with your child as there will not be lunch served that day.

Coming Up New This Year!
