Christmas Sweater Day Pictures ~

It has been a bit hectic with getting everything organized for the Christmas concert but I think everything is falling into place.  Here are a few reminders of things happening this week.

Thursday, December 21 ~

The students at NHCS will be performing "A Pirate Christmas".  The play will be performed on Thursday, December 21 at 1:00 pm and at 7:00 pm.  For the evening performance, doors will open at 6:30.  Students are asked to be in their classrooms by 6:45.

The PTA will be providing refreshments after both performances.

There will be parking available in the north field.  Please be careful when walking through the field and the parking lot as there is lots of ice.

There will be a "We Scare Hunger" collection of non perishable items.  All items donated will go to the local food bank.

Our annual Book Fair will be taking place during the Christmas Concerts.  Please plan to check it out.

The students have been working hard to prepare and are eager to perform for everyone!

Friday, December 22 ~

Friday will be our PJ and Potluck day. Students are encouraged to wear there PJs, bathrobes and slippers to school that day.  If you have not yet received your letter indicating what you are asked to bring for the potluck, please contact Mrs. Austin to find out.

After the potluck we will be playing Bingo and watching a Christmas movie.

December News

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  It seems that each year people start to prepare for Christmas earlier than the year before.  Many people already have their tree and lights up.

We are no exception here at New Humble Centre.  The Christmas concert has been chosen and students are auditioning for parts.  Soon every spare moment will be used to practice lines and songs.  I really do love watching all the students work together for a common goal - another stellar New Humble Centre Christmas Concert!

Boys' Basketball ~

This past weekend, the boys' basketball team played in a round robin tournament at Thorsby Elementary.  The boys played extremely well, winning two of their three games.  These games count towards their standing for the final tournament in January.

Skating Rink ~

Thank you to Nick Martinoff, Dusty Martinoff, and Darren Mankow, owner of Extreme Water Hauling for flooding the rink.  Darren Mankow donated the use of his water truck.

The rink is now ready to skate on.  Remember that in order for students to skate at recess they need to be able to do up their own skates. They also have to have a CSA approved helmet and mittens. They are also encouraged to wear snow pants.

December Kindergarten Days:

5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 22

(Please note that Friday, December 8 was switched to November so there is no school for the kindergarten students on that day.)

The Five Days of Christmas ~

We have chosen a theme for each day. You can bring in one thing each day or drop it all off at once!

Monday: Keep us Fresh Day (personal hygiene items-toothpaste, shampoo, soap, body wash, etc)Tuesday: Keep us Warm Day (blankets, toques, mittens, scarves, socks, etc)Wednesday: Treat us to a Treat Day (candy, non perishable treat food)Thursday: Make us Feel Special Day (jewelry, bubble bath, hair products, etc)Friday: Fun Day (toys, books, games, etc)
